Jam Jam
A project made by a musician.
Jam Jam is made by one independent musician. Detection, the tuner, the keyboard and the metronome are free. A Premium subscription exists to support the project and go further with your notebook.
How the project is funded
One Premium subscription unlocks everything on mobile and on the web. It extends the notebook (more imports, exports and songs) and gives you priority on our server. Chord, key and tempo detection in the browser has no limit, with or without Premium. The details are on the Premium page.
We’re open about what it costs to run: servers, storage and email all have a price. Supporting Jam Jam keeps it independent and moving forward.
And we’re just as open about your data: we collect the bare minimum and never sell it. Read our privacy policy.

Frequently asked questions
Is Jam Jam really free?
Jam Jam Detection finds the chords, key and tempo of a song. It is free and unlimited in your browser, with no account: drop an audio file or play into the mic. The tuner, the keyboard and the metronome are free too. The notebook asks for a free account to sync. An optional Premium subscription supports the project and extends the notebook. On mobile, a file is analysed on your phone or on our server in France, and only analyses sent to our server are counted each week (details on the Premium page).
Which platforms is it on?
The web app is available right now on jam-jam.org: your songbook, chord detection, keyboard, tuner and metronome on a big screen, in sync with your phone. Android is out on Google Play, and iOS is in public beta via TestFlight.
What about my data?
Your songs live on your phone. When you sign in, they’re backed up only to your own private account space: never shared or reused. Others only ever see your username, photo and public songs, never your email. See the privacy policy for the full picture.
Does it work offline?
On your phone, yes: with no time limit, free plan included. The mobile app is offline-first: your songbook, chords, chord detection, tuner and keyboard all work with no connection, for as long as you like. Only online import and account sync need the internet. The web app, on the other hand, needs a connection, offline is mobile only.
What’s the difference between the mobile and web apps?
One account shared across both, and your songbook syncs within seconds whether you’re on your phone or on a big screen. Offline use and photo import stay on the mobile app; capturing the sound of your computer or of a browser tab is web-only.
How can I support Jam Jam?
The best way is Premium: a deliberately tiny price that supports an independent developer, extends the notebook and gives priority on our server. Detection in the browser stays free and unlimited either way. Sharing the app with fellow musicians helps just as much.
How do I share feedback or report a bug?
Sign in and use the Feedback page: you can follow the conversation and see replies right there. We read every message.
Can I get my songs back out of Jam Jam?
Always, and in 9 formats: PDF (single, combined or zipped), plain text, ChordPro for OnSong or SongBook, MusicXML for MuseScore, Dorico and Sibelius, MIDI for any DAW or sequencer, synced lyrics (.lrc), a chord annotation (.lab) and the Jam Jam .jamsong file, which re-imports without losing a thing. PDF and text are free within the weekly export allowance; ChordPro, synced lyrics (.lrc), the chord annotation (.lab), MusicXML and MIDI come with Premium. And backing up your whole songbook or exporting your account data is always free, unlimited and outside every quota.
