Your online chord songbook

Play an instrument and Jam Jam names the chord and notes it hears, live, from your microphone.
Open →Find the chords in an MP3
Drop an audio file and Jam Jam pulls out its time-stamped chords, key, tempo and section structure — without uploading a thing.
Open →Free online tuner

Open →Online piano keyboard
A free virtual piano you can play in your browser — with chords, scales and 142 instrument sounds.

Open →Read a tab that actually plays
Paste a tab you found on a forum: Jam Jam reads it, plays it at your speed and can show it on a staff instead.
Open →Online drum machine and pads
Eight pads, 48 drum packs across 14 genres — tap a beat in your browser, or play it on a MIDI controller.
Open →Transpose a song and find your capo
Shift the key by −6 to +6 semitones: chords, melody and fingering diagrams follow, and your lyrics stay untouched.
Open →Scales on the online keyboard
Choose a key and the keyboard shows you its scale — in-key notes bright, out-of-key keys greyed, root marked.
Open →Chord diagrams for 15 instruments
The same chord, drawn on your instrument — with the colours that tell you what each note is doing.
Open →Free online metronome
A steady metronome in your browser — tempo, time signature, accents and tap tempo.

Jam Jam in action on mobile
These are the mobile app — the web app brings your songbook, chord detection, keyboard, tuner and metronome to the big screen, always in sync.
Everything to play
Chord notebook
Keep your songs, chords and lyrics at hand — transposition, capo calculated over 13 positions, playlists and PDF export. On Android, auto-scroll can even follow your voice as you sing.
Live chord detection
Play any instrument and Jam Jam names the chords and notes it hears — 14 qualities across 12 keys, 168 chords, worked out on your own device. Live from the mic on Android and in your browser; on iOS, from an audio file.
Smart import
Bring in songs from 17 tab sites, a link, an online search or a PDF — and from a photo in the mobile app. The Automatic Assistant cleans them up and never invents: every fix is anchored to a web source.
On-device assistant
An Automatic Assistant that helps import, clean up and understand songs — in the mobile app it runs on your phone, with no personal data collected. You can optionally let it look things up online to refine uncertain passages; without a source, it says nothing.
Jam tools
Tuner for 9 instruments and 20 tunings (±5 cents), metronome, drone, and chord & note detection while you play.
Melodies
Write, generate and play melodies — 8 views: staff, tablature, falling notes, harmonica, accordion, note names, handpan, kalimba.
MIDI keyboard station
Plug in a MIDI keyboard — in your browser or on your phone — to play your songs and trigger drum pads and controllers. 142 sounds (17 free), 48 drum kits, arpeggiator and sequencer; offline on mobile.
Composer (mobile app, beta)
Sketch chord progressions and melodies, then hear them played by a full backing band. In the mobile app, in beta — not available on the web.

Free, and built to stay honest
Jam Jam is made and funded by one independent developer. It’s free to use — the whole app runs on your phone, and everything you need to play is there without paying a cent.
A fair-priced subscription is there for those who want to support the work. One subscription unlocks Premium everywhere — mobile and web alike. It removes the few minimalist ads and lifts the limits meant only for heavy use — for example, online imports are capped at 10 per month, imports from friends’ songbooks at 20 per month, and your carnet at 50 songs on the free plan.
We’re open about what it costs to run: servers, storage and email all have a price. Supporting Jam Jam keeps it independent, ad-light and moving forward.
And we’re just as open about your data — we collect the bare minimum and never sell it. Read our privacy policy.
Frequently asked questions
Is Jam Jam really free?
Yes. The app is free and, on mobile, runs entirely on your phone. An optional subscription removes the few small ads and lifts limits meant for heavy use — but you can play, import and organise your songs without paying (10 online imports a month, 50 songs in your notebook).
Which platforms is it on?
The web app is available right now on jam-jam.org — your songbook, chord detection, keyboard, tuner and metronome on a big screen, in sync with your phone. Android is out on Google Play, and iOS is coming soon.
What about my data?
Your songs live on your phone. When you sign in, they’re backed up only to your own private account space — never shared or reused. Others only ever see your username, photo and public songs, never your email. See the privacy policy for the full picture.
Does it work offline?
On your phone, yes. The mobile app is offline-first: your songbook, chords, chord detection, tuner and keyboard all work with no connection. Only online import and account sync need the internet. The web app, on the other hand, needs a connection — offline is mobile only.
What’s the difference between the mobile and web apps?
One account shared across both, and your songbook syncs within seconds whether you’re on your phone or on a big screen. Offline use, voice-following auto-scroll (Android), photo import and the Composer with its backing tracks (still in beta) stay on the mobile app; capturing the sound of your computer or of a browser tab is web-only.
How can I support Jam Jam?
The best way is Premium — a deliberately tiny price that supports an independent developer, removes the small ads and lifts the limits. Sharing the app with fellow musicians helps just as much.
