Free online guitalele tuner

A tuner that knows the guitalele is a guitar pitched a fourth higher, right in your browser.

Free online guitalele tuner

The Jam Jam guitalele tuner listens through your microphone and tells you, in real time, which note is sounding and how far sharp or flat you are. Its six strings are A2, D3, G3, C4, E4, A4: the exact shapes of a guitar, sounding a fourth higher, like a guitar with a capo at the 5th fret. In-tune zone at ±5 cents, cents to the unit, frequency to a tenth of a hertz.

How to tune a guitalele

  1. Allow the microphone

Open the tuner, pick Guitalele and grant mic access: the audio is analysed on your device, nothing is uploaded.

  2. Start with the low A

Pluck the thickest string open: it targets A2, the same pitch as a guitar's 5th string. Work up from there.

  3. Centre the needle

Turn the peg until the needle centres and turns green: that green band is the ±5-cent in-tune zone.

  4. Finish with the top A

The thinnest string sits at A4 (440 Hz). If it fights with the E, tap to lock it and the tuner follows that string only.

A tuner that treats the guitalele as its own instrument

ADGCEA built in

No need to fake it with a guitar preset and mental transposition: the six targets are the guitalele's own.

Same shapes as a guitar

Because the intervals match a guitar exactly, every chord shape you know transfers; the tuner just makes sure the pitches land a fourth higher.

Reference note in a guitalele voice

Every string plays its target note with a real guitalele timbre, so you can check a string by ear before touching the peg.

Auto, manual or chromatic

It locks the nearest string by itself; one tap freezes a string, another returns to auto. Chromatic mode covers anything outside the presets.

Guitalele tuner FAQ

Is this guitalele tuner free?

Completely: no account, no ads, nothing to install. It all runs in your browser, and the microphone audio is analysed on the spot. It is never sent to a server.

Is a guitalele tuned like a guitar?

Same intervals, a fourth higher: A D G C E A instead of E A D G B E. A guitar C shape plays an F on a guitalele. Jam Jam has the guitalele's own preset so you never have to transpose in your head.

Can I use nylon strings and a low tension?

The tuner does not care about the strings, only the pitch. Whatever the set, aim for the six targets shown; the reference note plays in a guitalele timbre to double-check by ear.
